The Raven Who Stole the Sun
Long ago, the world was in darkness — there was no sun, no moon, and no stars. At that time, all ravens were white, and the light was kept by a powerful shaman, locked away in boxes and not shared with the people.
A clever Raven decided to return the light. He transformed into a tiny needle and fell into the water that the shaman’s daughter drank. In this way, the Raven was reborn — in the form of a child. Gradually, he persuaded the shaman to open the boxes with the stars, the moon, and finally the sun.
The Raven seized the sun and carried it into the sky. The light was so hot that his feathers were scorched, turning him black forever. Since then, the sun has illuminated the world, and black ravens remind us of the price paid for light.
This story parallels the myth of Prometheus — the one who defied the law to bring humans fire, knowledge, and life.
This pendant is inspired by this legend. The Raven’s head is hand-oxidized black, holding a polished sterling silver sun in its beak, symbolizing cleverness, bravery, and the gift of light.
