Medusa Gorgon
Once, Medusa was a maiden of extraordinary grace and beauty, pursued by Poseidon, god of the seas. Seeking sanctuary from his desire, she fled to the temple of Athena, praying for mercy and protection. But the envious goddess passed her own judgment, transforming the maiden into a Gorgon—her hair turned to a nest of hissing vipers, and her gaze rendered a lethal curse that petrified all living things.
Cast in fine sterling silver, the serene and immaculate features of her face are framed by serpents poised to strike. Over her eyes rest two tsavorites, clamped within the jaws of two snakes, symbolizing the venom, danger, and anguish through which she now beholds the world.
