Claddagh Ring
Claddagh Ring with Natural Ruby
The story of the Claddagh ring is perhaps one of the most romantic legends in the history of jewelry.
In the 17th century, a young Irishman named Richard Joyce from the fishing village of Claddagh in County Galway set sail for the West Indies, leaving behind his true love. His ship was captured by pirates, and Richard was sold into slavery to a Moorish goldsmith. Over years of captivity, he mastered the art of jewelry making and crafted a unique ring as a symbol of his enduring love and hope.
When he was finally freed, Richard returned home to Galway. To his joy, his beloved had waited for him all those years. He presented her with the ring he had made — a design that became an eternal symbol of devotion:
The Hands represent friendship.
The Heart symbolizes love.
The Crown stands for loyalty.
Living here in County Galway, I felt deeply connected to this timeless romantic legend and simply could not pass by such an inspiring story.
This piece is my own artistic interpretation of the iconic Claddagh ring. I sculpted it with highly detailed, realistic miniature hands holding a glowing heart set with a genuine natural ruby, crowned with intricate historic detail. Crafted in solid sterling silver, this ring is a personal tribute to Irish heritage, enduring devotion, and true romance.
